"Changesonebowie," a compilation album by the renowned English musician David Bowie, made its debut through RCA Records in 1976. This collection curated songs spanning the period from 1969 to 1976, notably featuring the first LP appearance of "John, I'm Only Dancing."
Interestingly, the initial UK pressing of the album included a "sax version" of this track, recorded during the Aladdin Sane sessions in 1973, which was exclusive to the first 1000 copies (distinguished by the absence of the RCA logo in the upper-right corner of the cover). Subsequent pressings of "Changesonebowie" showcased the original version of the single, recorded and released in 1972. All US pressings of the LP also contained this original version.
Of the tracks included, "Ziggy Stardust" and "Suffragette City" had not been previously released as singles when "Changesonebowie" was initially issued. However, "Ziggy Stardust" served as the B-side of "The Jean Genie" in November 1972, while "Suffragette City" would later be released as an A-side in July 1976 to support the compilation's promotion.
Following the success of "Changesonebowie," a companion compilation titled "Changestwobowie" was released in 1981.
