"Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1" is the second solo studio album by English singer-songwriter George Michael, released on September 3, 1990, by Columbia Records in the US and Epic Records in the UK. This album was Michael’s final release of all-new material on Columbia before Patience in 2004.
 
Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 was a significant shift from Michael’s previous album, Faith (1987). Following the immense success of Faith, expectations for Michael’s next album were high. Michael aimed to be recognized as a serious songwriter, which led to a more reflective and somber tone throughout the album. Like Faith, every track was produced and arranged by Michael himself. Recording began at producer Chris Porter's house near Guildford and was later moved to Metropolis Studios in Chiswick, London. Originally envisioned as a double album with about sixteen tracks, this concept was eventually revised into two separate releases for 1990.
 
Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 achieved commercial success, selling around eight million copies globally. It entered the Billboard 200 at number 22 and climbed to number two, spending the remainder of 1990 in the top ten and totaling 42 weeks on the chart. In the UK, the album was a monumental success, surpassing the sales of Faith. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, held the top position for three weeks, and remained in the top 20 for 34 consecutive weeks. In its 24th week, it rose from number 13 to number three and remained on the chart for a total of 88 weeks. The album was certified quadruple platinum by the British Phonographic Industry on January 2, 1992.
 
On October 20, 2017, Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 was reissued in various formats and topped the UK Albums Chart once more, 27 years after its original release.
