Howlin' Wolf is the second album by the Chicago blues singer, guitarist, and harmonica player Howlin' Wolf. Released as a collection of twelve singles previously issued by the Chess label between 1960 and 1962, the album is commonly known as 'The Rockin' Chair Album' due to its distinctive cover illustration by Don S. Bronstein, a nickname that appears on some reissue pressings.
In 1985, the album received a Blues Music Award from The Blues Foundation in the category of 'Classics of Blues Recordings—Album.' It was ranked No. 238 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2012, with the magazine describing it as "an outrageous set of sex songs written by Willie Dixon." Additionally, Mojo magazine named it the third greatest guitar album of all time in 2004.
