"A La Sala" ("To the Room") is the fourth studio album by the American musical trio Khruangbin, hitting the shelves on April 5, 2024, under Dead Oceans and Night Time Stories.
Critics have lauded the album for its musicianship. Ammar Kalia of The Observer noted, "each member displays a subtle mastery of their instrument." Oliver Crook of Exclaim! described the album as "endlessly rewarding," while Paul Simpson of AllMusic labeled it as "Khruangbin's most stripped-down effort since their debut."
Regarding production, Thomas Smith of NME commented, "Each song is appropriately seasoned with dubby beats, field recordings, hooky guitar riffs, and basslines, all distinct enough to pique your attention but never dominating space." Jem Aswad of Variety noted that the album "dial[s] back the vocals and making the grooves and sound even more low-key." However, Nick Seip of Slant Magazine viewed the album as "largely a retread of Khruangbin’s idiosyncratic brand of dubby psychedelia."
In a review for The Skinny, Jamie Wilde concluded, "Sunshine in music form, A LA SALA is another stellar addition to Khruangbin’s blissful repertoire."
