"Follow the Leader" (stylized as FOLLOW The LEADEЯ) is the third studio album by American nu metal pioneers, Korn. Hitting the shelves on August 18, 1998, under both Immortal and Epic Records, this album marked a departure from their previous collaboration with Ross Robinson, as it was helmed by producers Steve Thompson and Toby Wright.
 
The album swiftly climbed to the top, securing the number one spot on four national charts, including the prestigious US Billboard 200, with an impressive 268,000 units sold in its inaugural week. "Follow the Leader" emerged as Korn's magnum opus in terms of commercial success, earning a five-times Platinum certification from the RIAA. Notably, its singles, "Got the Life" and "Freak on a Leash," made waves across multiple charts, with their accompanying music videos even being retired from MTV, a groundbreaking feat epitomized by the MTV show Total Request Live. Garnering praise from critics, the album sold approximately 14 million copies worldwide, solidifying Korn's status as pioneers of the alt-metal genre.
 
The album's promotion was bolstered by The Family Values Tour, which showcased not only the album but also its five hit singles. "Freak on a Leash" garnered significant acclaim, receiving nine nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards and clinching the prestigious Best Rock Video award, along with Best Editing. At the 2000 Grammy Awards, the music video for "Freak on a Leash" secured another accolade, winning the coveted Best Short Form Music Video award.
