"Forever Changes," the third studio album by the American rock band Love, made its debut via Elektra Records in November 1967. Departing from their previous sound, the album saw Love embracing a subtler, folk-oriented approach, featuring acoustic guitar and orchestration. Primary songwriter Arthur Lee delved into darker themes, touching on mortality and his growing disillusionment with the counterculture of the 1960s. This album marked the end of an era for the original band lineup; tensions escalated, resulting in Bryan MacLean's acrimonious departure and the dismissal of other members by leader Lee.
Initially, "Forever Changes" enjoyed only modest success on the album charts, peaking at No. 154 in the US and reaching a more respectable No. 24 in the United Kingdom. However, over time, it garnered recognition as a seminal work of 1960s psychedelia, earning placement among the greatest albums of all time by numerous publications.
