"Suede" marks the debut album of the English alternative rock band Suede, hitting the shelves in March 1993 under Nude Records. Recorded at Master Rock studios in London during late 1992 and early 1993, the album was helmed by producer Ed Buller.

Upon its release, "Suede" swiftly ascended to the top of the UK Albums Chart, making it the fastest-selling debut album in British history at the time, nearly a decade after its release. It clinched the coveted 1993 Mercury Music Prize and is often hailed as one of the pioneering records of the Britpop movement. Infused with a sense of Britishness and glam rock, its musical and lyrical essence draws comparisons to the likes of The Smiths and early David Bowie.

Rolling Stone praised the album's trio of singles, dubbed "instantly classic." These singles — "The Drowners," "Metal Mickey," and "Animal Nitrate" — generated significant media buzz, fueling anticipation in the year leading up to the album's release. Reception was generally favorable both in the UK and the US, though it attained greater commercial success in its home country compared to the States. Despite this, "Suede" remains the group's highest-selling album in the US.In 2013, NME honored the album by placing it at number 78 on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
