"Seventh Sojourn", the eighth album by the Moody Blues, made its debut in October 1972. In the United Kingdom, it soared to No. 5, marking the band's first chart-topping success in the United States, where it spent an impressive five weeks at the summit to close out 1972.
The album spawned two hit singles: "Isn't Life Strange" (reaching No. 13 in the UK and No. 29 in the US) and "I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)" (peaking at No. 36 in the UK and No. 12 in the US). However, these achievements were somewhat overshadowed by the resurgence of "Nights in White Satin," originally released in 1967. Despite the success of the singles from Seventh Sojourn, "Nights In White Satin" outshone them all, claiming No. 9 in the UK and an impressive No. 2 in the United States, marking the highest chart position for a Moody Blues single in America.
