"Elephant" is the fourth studio album by the American rock duo The White Stripes. It saw its release on April 1, 2003, across V2, XL, and Third Man Records. Most of the album took shape over a tight two-week recording period in April 2002, embracing a production ethos devoid of computers. Instead, an eight-track tape machine and vintage equipment dating back no later than 1963 were employed.

Debuting at number six on the Billboard 200 and securing the top spot on the UK Albums Charts, "Elephant" has sold a remarkable 4 million copies worldwide. It has garnered multiple certifications, including 2× Platinum from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and 3× Platinum from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). Its standout single, "Seven Nation Army," not only achieved commercial triumph but also evolved into a ubiquitous sports anthem. Other notable singles include "I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself," "The Hardest Button to Button," and "There's No Home for You Here."

The album received widespread critical acclaim, often hailed as The White Stripes' magnum opus. Its accolades include a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year, securing wins for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Rock Song for "Seven Nation Army" at the 46th Grammy Awards. In 2012, Rolling Stone magazine honored it by ranking it 390th on its prestigious list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time," also positioning it as the fifth-best album of the 2000s decade. Critics and scholars alike have lauded "Elephant" as one of the finest records of the 21st century.
