"Opiate" is an EP by the American rock band Tool, produced and engineered by Sylvia Massy and Steve Hansgen. Released in 1992, it came after two years of the band playing together following their formation in 1990. The EP preceded Tool's first full-length album, "Undertow," by a year and is named after Karl Marx's quote: "religion ... is the opiate of the masses."

The vinyl version of the EP featured a double groove on the second side, with one groove containing "Cold and Ugly" and the other containing "The Gaping Lotus Experience" followed by a brief period of silence. Both grooves led into the track "Jerk-Off." "Cold and Ugly" and "Jerk-Off" were recorded live on New Year's Eve 1991/1992 at the Jellö Loft in Hollywood, CA.

"Opiate" was certified platinum by the RIAA and charted on several international charts when Tool released their catalog to online streaming in August 2019.
