"Fantastic," the inaugural studio album by English pop duo Wham!, made its debut on July 1, 1983, swiftly ascending to the top spot on the UK Albums Chart. It featured the trio of previously released singles: "Young Guns," "Wham Rap!," and "Bad Boys," with "Club Tropicana" also dropping as a single alongside the album.
According to Andrew Ridgeley's account in his 2019 book "Wham! George and Me," the album's creation marked a pivotal moment. During its early stages, Ridgeley and George Michael mutually decided that Michael would assume sole responsibility for crafting the group's material. Despite their collaborative songwriting efforts prior to securing a record deal, once they hit the studio, Michael's songwriting prowess became evident at an impressive pace. Ridgeley acknowledged that while he didn't necessarily seek this arrangement, the duo recognized it as the pathway to achieving the success they both aspired to.
